Instituto Pirenaico de Ecología
Pyrenean Institute of Ecology.

Doctor in Biology (1986), researcher at the Pyrenean Institute of Ecology (CSIC, 2003-). She is the author of almost a hundred scientific articles, and coordinator of the recent CSIC white paper “Global Change Impacts”. She has directed 14 competitive research projects, and participated in 24 more both nationally and internationally. She frequently collaborates with different Administrations in forums related to Conservation Biology. She co-coordinates the Interdisciplinary Thematic Platform ECOBIOVID, dedicated to integrating information on biodiversity and environmental variables generated by CSIC staff. Her work focuses on "long-term monitoring of biodiversity dynamics.” To do this, it combines field information with new technologies (satellite, drones) and citizen science projects, in order to fine-tune efficient monitoring systems that help advise in decision-making on conservation problems, produce reliable indicators, and generate early warning signs. Two topics in particular: 1) Exploring the patterns of biodiversity and the dynamics of plant species and communities, and 2) Identifying refuges for biodiversity in the current scenario of global change.
