Xiana Méndez

Xiana Margarida Méndez Bértolo, born on 27 July 1977 in Pontevedra, has a degree in Law and in Business Administration and Management from the Comillas Pontificate University. In 2004 she joined the Higher Corps of State Commercial Technicians and Economists. 

She began her professional career in 2004 at the Competition Defence Service of the Ministry of the Economy. Between 2013 and 2015, she held different positions in the General Directorate of Economic Policy of the Ministry, specialising in the sectors of transport and infrastructure and official credit. From August 2015 to 2018, she was the economic and commercial counsellor for the Spanish Embassy in Quito. 
She is currently Secretary of State for Commerce of the Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Tourism, President of ICEX Spain Exportación e Inversiones.
